Organic Binder for Aggregates

Mix PathBinder with your aggregate to create long-lasting, natural pathways.

About PathBinder

PathBinder, derived from the seeds of the psyllium plant, is specifically developed to fortify and prolong the life of pathways. This binder, sourced from a versatile plant known for its robust fibrous qualities, provides an eco-friendly solution ideal for both revitalizing worn paths and constructing new, enduring walkways.

Coverage

15 lbs. of PathBinder per 100 sq. ft. of pathway.

or

15 lbs. per 2000 lbs. of aggregate

Why Choose PathBinder?

Enhanced Trail Performance

PathBinder’s fine powdered plant-based binder adheres to the aggregate particles, effectively locking them in place to minimize displacement. This creates a stable and reliable trail surface capable of withstanding heavy rainfall and foot traffic.

Decreases Maintenance

Compared to traditional crushed stone trails, the addition of PathBinder significantly reduces erosion and therefore maintenance requirements. Its binding capabilities ensures long-lasting performance, reducing the need for frequent repairs and upkeep.

Cost Effective Solution

PathBinder provides an intelligent and budget-friendly option for trail projects. It delivers the benefits of a stabilized aggregate, enhancing trail performance and longevity, while keeping costs in check. Ideal for larger-scale projects where affordability and durability are paramount.

Water Permeable

PathBinder’s plant-based binder encourages permeability, allowing natural water filtration while supporting a healthy ecosystem. Path surfaces that allow water infiltration offer numerous benefits to the environment and contribute to sustainable design practices. By embracing permeability, these surfaces play a vital role in maintaining a healthy ecosystem and minimizing the impact on natural water systems.

Natural Look and Feel

PathBinder does not change the look of your natural crushed stone pathway…it just makes it stronger. The strength and bonding power of PathBinder allows you the ability to have a natural-looking surface without the maintenance commonly found in traditional aggregate surfaces. This allows your pathway to seamlessly blend with the natural environment. The resulting trail surface harmonizes with the surrounding landscape, offering an authentic and visually appealing experience for trail users.

How it's Made

PathBinder is crafted from the husks of seeds of the Psyllium plant. These plants are cultivated in fields where they flourish until the seeds reach maturity. Once harvested, the seeds are separated from the surrounding husks, which are valued for their soluble fiber with impressive swelling properties. These husks are then finely milled into a consistent, fine powder that is highly effective at binding soil particles together. After the milling process, the psyllium husk powder is carefully packaged and branded as PathBinder, ready to be used as a natural stabilizer for various aggregates in landscaping projects. This process, from plant growth to packaging, harnesses the innate properties of the psyllium plant, transforming it into an eco-friendly product that provides strength and durability to surfaces.

Uses

Existing Surface Application

For enhancing existing pathways, evenly distribute PathBinder across the surface at the rate of 15 lbs. per 100 sq. ft. using a drop spreader. Rototill the powder into the top 2 inches of the aggregate to ensure a uniform mix, then saturate thoroughly with water before compacting with a roller. This process rejuvenates the pathway, improving stability and reducing future maintenance.

New Aggregate Installation

When creating new pathways, thoroughly mix PathBinder with aggregate at a ratio of 15 lbs. of binder to every 2000 lbs. of aggregate on a contamination-free site. Once blended to a consistent mixture, apply to a prepared base, soak with water, and compact. This method constructs a robust, permeable surface that is eco-friendly and long-lasting.
